The New Year

While each and every day is a new day and an opportunity for new beginnings, New Year’s Day carries potent energy of change. There is collective consciousness to pause and reflect, notating lessons of the prior year and setting thoughtful intentions for the new year.
For both the mind and body, it feels good to be able to start fresh; with a clean slate.
But to really begin anew, we need to have learned from what the past year brought us.
“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know”. ~ Pema Chodron
Until we understand this, everything that we don’t like and are unhappy about, will follow us into the new year. And if we don’t embrace the gifts that come with our challenges, we will continue to suffer.
I have learned that we need to sit with the most unpleasant of things, for they have much to teach us. It is only then, that we will be able to let go.
In our time of reflection and learning from lessons given, we can also acknowledge the abundance of blessings received. These blessings are what we can bring forward into the new year.
The blessing of hope.
The power of prayer and intention.
The goodness and purity of love.
Compassion and forgiveness.
Clarity in the most confusing moments.
Light in the darkest of days.
Laughter during a flood of tears.
And Strength, when we are at our weakest.
It is my wish always, for each of us to be filled with divine light, courage to live fearlessly, and faith to hold us when we are in doubt.
With love and light,
Laura McKinnon
