Seaside Yoga Sanctuary offers a comprehensive 200hr teacher training & advanced studies program, led by Laura McKinnon & Mahendra Briksha.
The teacher training consists of 9 weekends and includes unlimited yoga classes at Seaside Yoga Sanctuary during the training months.
The training program is ideal for anyone interested in becoming a yoga teacher or gaining a deeper insight into the practice and study of yoga.
In addition to practice teaching throughout the training, those wishing to receive a certificate of completion, are required to attend an additional 5 hours with Laura McKinnon on 9/5, prior to teaching 3 public classes under the guidance of a Seaside Yoga staff member.
IAY YTT students are also required to volunteer teach one yoga class out in the community and write an essay on their experience.
Each student must also complete a total of 50 public classes as part of certification requirements, (**at least 40 must be taken @SYS**).
Upon completion of the training, you will have enough knowledge to teach in a safe, skillful and powerful way of integrated yoga asana, pranayama and meditation group classes; as well as in a private individualized setting.
"I had been contemplating a yoga teacher training for many years and am so glad I waited until I found SYS. The schedule was very doable, even with 2 small children, and the instruction was impeccable. Both Laura and Briksha bring so much knowledge and passion into the training. By the conclusion. I felt completely ready and excited to go further with yoga teaching. I highly recommend the training for anyone interested in both deepening their knowledge of yoga poses and philosophy and teaching." ~M. McDrew

Vision , Philosophy & Lifestyle: Through the practice of journaling, contemplating, living, sharing, and creative expression, you will make the journey of who you really are. In this training; through the integral practices, yamas (interactions with other and the world), niyamas (personal discipline), and svadhyaya (self-study), you will gather fragmented parts of you together giving birth to a Healthy Happy individual who has a harmonious relationship with each other and the world. The student will adopt a bigger view of life and the world and a life style guided by integral yoga at their own pace and unique ways through the gradual introduction and practices.
Our major goal in life is self-realization that leads to Love, wisdom, happiness and creative growth. Therefore yoga is the ultimate destiny of life and also provides a path leading to that destiny. Yoga is systematic way to come out from the cycle of loss and gain, pain and pleasure, right and wrong, from trap of ignorance and mis-identification. So yoga whether it is dualistic or non-dualistic, whether it is traditional or modern, it is an attempt to reduce and eliminate suffering from life so that one can have capacity to lead creative and harmonious living.
Integral Awakening Yoga is based on-awakening into the self in the midst of hustle and bustle of life and transforming life in the light of this Self-realization.
“On my first trip to SYS I knew that I wanted to be a part of their yoga community. The warmth of the space, the instructors, and the positive energy surrounding the practice was palpable. The 200-hour teacher training was an invaluable experience that taught me to have the confidence, knowledge, and skill to guide my students in asana, pranayama, and meditation. Laura and Briksha are fantastic teachers who passionately share their expertise with students on the path of yoga.” L. Grusich
“My experience with Integral Awakening YTT is that it lives up to its name! It is an amazing integration of asana, pranayama and yogic philosophy all bundled up into practical teacher training. It is deeply grounded in personal practice and personal growth and based on this fundamental question: Where is the yoga in (fill in the blank with every life experience)? Very personalized, very practical. I give it my highest recommendation for a transformational program which supports students in becoming certified yoga teachers! ~A. Millar
